In 2007 students and staff achieved our best ever Basic Skills Test results and numerous other outstanding achievements.

THE ARTS

bulletOur senior performance choir performed throughout the community.
bulletEarly Stage 1 and Stage 1 students presented their Christmas concert to students, parents and community members from the Garden Village  nursing home.
bulletWestport Public school students performed with the Hastings Valley Community of Schools orchestra and choir.

SPORTING

bulletAll our students took part in daily physical activity, Jump Rope for Heart and the Golden Circle Fun Run.
bulletOur boys won their pool at Hastings Super 8 cricket carnival.
bulletOur girls were unbeaten at the Hastings touch football carnival.
bulletEmma represented the North Coast at the NSW PSSA swimming carnival.
bulletYear 2 and 3 students took part in an intensive learn to swim program.

OTHER

bulletOur chess team won their 10th consecutive Hastings championship  and came 2nd at the NSW Country Chess Championships.
bulletOur students were highly commended for their performance at the North Coast, Tournament of the Minds.
bulletStudents who took part in the University of NSW International Competitions and Assessments for Schools received 23 distinctions and 14 credits.
bulletMr Youngblutt spoke at the University of NSW International Literacy Conference.
bulletOur staff prepared and presented a report at the 2007 NSW Middle Schools Conference.
bulletMrs Lawes received a teaching award from the Australian College of Educators.
bulletMrs Riordan and Mrs Youngblutt successfully completed the first year of their Reading Recovery training.
bulletWestport Public school was nominated for a national Dare to Lead award for our work in the the teaching of literacy.
